Analysis of compostability of plastics

Service description:

A large amount of produced every year persistent plastic has become a global problem. This concerns to a large extent the packaging industry where the “lifespan” of packaging is usually relatively short. An output is a large amount of generated waste. An environmentally friendly packaging generates less harm to the environment and improves the company’s image. For this reason, a number of companies are working on developing and utilizing new materials, including biodegradable and compostable plastics. The service consists of conducting a determination of total oxygen bio-degradation of a plastic-based on organic compounds in the conditions of controlled composting (temperature, aeration, humidity) using measurement of the amount of produced carbon dioxide and level of plastic decay at the end of the test. The test is carried out in compliance with the international standard PN-EN ISO 14855-1:2009.
